A couple of days after the confirmation of the oath Camp commander Wilhelm Heinrich selected about twenty of them to serve as camp – SS. They were given special duties to perform the management of the camp. Most of them did not have any military –, or camp experience. Two (seasoned) guards coming from Dachau took care of the instruction for the members of the camp – SS. Political schooling was given by the camp commander. The Wachkommando and the Stabkompanie were two German guard units that were formed separately. The Stabkompanie grew from January 1st 1942 under direction of P.A. Helle to become SS – Wachbataillon Nordwest (called later the SS – Wachbataillon 3). Later the Wachkommando was merged into the SS – Wachbataillon as 1e Kompanie.
